A Moving Documentation of Love and Loss
At age 48, Stewart Selman was told he had a malignant brain tumor. He knew that he would have only approximately a year to live and contacted Kirchner of NPR to propose that he keep an audio diary to leave as a legacy for his wife and two children and which may be helpful for other families. His wife, Rebecca Peterson, reported that she wasn’t ready to release the diary until recently, three years after his death. She has written an essay on her experience which is also included in this remarkable and generous sharing of their last year together.
